Male Rose Breasted Grosbeak

Image
This handsome fellow allowed me to approach surprisingly close. He is sitting on an elderberry tree branch right behind a clump of elder flowers about to burst open.  Their fragrance is heavenly! Our labrador walked right beneath his branch, but the Rose Breasted Grosbeak didn't seem concerned at all. Maybe he thinks he's hiding?  I hope he is not injured. What's happening in your back yard?

Blue Jay on a Snowy Day

Image
Like much of the US this weekend, a winter storm blew through our small town.  Our accumulation was probably about 4 inches each day.  Maybe 12 inches total?  We had power and plenty of snacks, so minimal inconvenience for us.   'Sending a shout out to all the road crews!  Your hard work is appreciated!

The Colors of Cosmos

As we say goodbye to Summer, let's remember just how beautiful it was. There are vibrant and soft colors along with quiet evenings and hot nights. I hope you and yours have made wonderful memories as varied as the colors of cosmos. Happy September!
