This book was a Christmas gift to myself.  So, yeah, I gave it to myself early!  

"Hard Candy Christmas" is a song that gets me through really tough times in my life.  It's difficult to say just how many times I've sung it on repeat at the top of my lungs, sounding nothing like Dolly.  Somehow it helps me move forward.  I'm such a big fan of Dolly Parton and so many of her songs.

Behind the Seams is just incredibly fun to read and the pages are packed with stories about joyous events and spectacular costumes!  The photography is absolutely exquisite.   I especially loved the close shots of rhinestone patterns, beadwork and embroidery.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves Dolly, stage costumes, or the talent and skill sets needed to create these unique, Backwoods Barbie looks.

Have you ever been enjoying a nice, quiet day of crafting, then BAM your jar of ModPodge falls off the table, splatters across the floor, and onto one of your favorite toss blankets?  Well, that happened to me right in the middle of this project.  Talk about a big, sticky mess!  Not to worry, though.  We have hardwood floors.  First, a dish towel was used to mop up most of the glops.  I had the thought to use rug cleaner on the afghan and also sprayed foam across the glue swirls on my floor.  The toss blanket made a round in my washing machine and came out unscathed.  A quick wet mop restored my hardwood floors.  Now, back to my nice quiet day of crafting.

Friendsmas Fizzy Soaking Salts

Friendsmas celebrations are such a wonderful way to spend an evening with girlfriends!  The plan for this year's party, besides snacks, is for each person to bring a $10 gift and we will swap.  It's nice to have a small something for everyone, though, so this is what I'm adding to the mix. Participating in craft challenges is just that.  A challenge!  I love how each one helps me think in different ways and pulls me out of any ruts I might be experiencing.  This one is all about sustainability.  For me that means:  Minimize purchases.  Upcycle wherever possible.  This time, I even grew something from seed!
