Chile Death

The setting is Pecan Springs during June Fest and the annual chili cookoff.  We have a mostly familiar, quirky cast with just a few new introductions.  Our heroine, China Bayles, is tasked with solving two suspicious deaths, theft AND possible elder abuse!  Ruby and McQuaid, best friend and love interest of our main character, respectively, are key to finding clues and uncovering motives.  I've mentioned before that Ruby is my favorite personality in this series.  She is courageous on so many levels.  We all want a best friend like Ruby!

Although I have loved all the books in this series, Chile Death has been my favorite so far.  Once again, the author keeps me fooled until the very last chapter.  I

Could.  Not.  Put.  It.  Down.

Have you ever been enjoying a nice, quiet day of crafting, then BAM your jar of ModPodge falls off the table, splatters across the floor, and onto one of your favorite toss blankets?  Well, that happened to me right in the middle of this project.  Talk about a big, sticky mess!  Not to worry, though.  We have hardwood floors.  First, a dish towel was used to mop up most of the glops.  I had the thought to use rug cleaner on the afghan and also sprayed foam across the glue swirls on my floor.  The toss blanket made a round in my washing machine and came out unscathed.  A quick wet mop restored my hardwood floors.  Now, back to my nice quiet day of crafting.

Friendsmas Fizzy Soaking Salts

Friendsmas celebrations are such a wonderful way to spend an evening with girlfriends!  The plan for this year's party, besides snacks, is for each person to bring a $10 gift and we will swap.  It's nice to have a small something for everyone, though, so this is what I'm adding to the mix. Participating in craft challenges is just that.  A challenge!  I love how each one helps me think in different ways and pulls me out of any ruts I might be experiencing.  This one is all about sustainability.  For me that means:  Minimize purchases.  Upcycle wherever possible.  This time, I even grew something from seed!
