Beatles Concert
The name of the evening's event was actually "British Invasion". Yes, this concert comes with a long story!
Our son has a "regular" job, but he also flips houses. His current project happens to be in Miami, Oklahoma. 'Never heard of it? Well, the town sounded familiar to me, but only vaguely. A little research revealed there is a beautifully restored theater in the charming downtown district. Perusing their upcoming events, I noticed the above-mentioned concert. When you get the chance to purchase tickets for live Beatles music, you don't ask questions. You just whip out your credit card and submit your order!
If you ever have the opportunity to visit Coleman Theatre in Miami, Oklahoma, GO! The building deserves its historic recognition.
Oh, and just so you know, the locals pronounce the name of their town MY. AM. UH. Apparently, it's a big deal to not pronounce it like the city in Florida. The things you learn.
The British Invasion concert was so much fun with lots of audience participation. Who doesn't know classic Beatles songs? During the evening, we learned this group normally performs at Americana Theater in Branson, Missouri. They were GREAT!
We also stumbled across a darling gift shop called The Donkey's Den, also in the downtown district. Housed in another old structure, they offered several silly, snarky items. You can bet I made a couple of purchases!
The little trek to Northeast Oklahoma ended at a Mexican restaurant, lunching with our son and his sweetie.
Here we are. 'Not the best photo of us, but we definitely enjoyed our short stay in Miami.
