Holly Blues

It's Christmas time in Pecan Springs, Texas.  I've become very fond of the colorful residents in this fictional place.  Everything is jolly until McQuaid's ex-wife, Sally, rolls into town.  Sally equals trouble.  Just what is she hiding from now?  Holly Blues begins in Pecan Springs, but McQuaid is off to Omaha, Kansas City and Sally's hometown.  He's looking for clues regarding a ten-year-old double homicide.  Back in Pecan Springs, China and Ruby are sorting through Sally's lies and keeping a lookout for the man Sally says is stalking her.  When there are two suspicious hit and run deaths, all three sleuths are tasked with getting enough information to figure out what happened.  For me, Holly Blues wasn't as good as others in the series.  I actually had the 'bad guy' pegged pretty early, so was a little bored toward the end.

Have you ever been enjoying a nice, quiet day of crafting, then BAM your jar of ModPodge falls off the table, splatters across the floor, and onto one of your favorite toss blankets?  Well, that happened to me right in the middle of this project.  Talk about a big, sticky mess!  Not to worry, though.  We have hardwood floors.  First, a dish towel was used to mop up most of the glops.  I had the thought to use rug cleaner on the afghan and also sprayed foam across the glue swirls on my floor.  The toss blanket made a round in my washing machine and came out unscathed.  A quick wet mop restored my hardwood floors.  Now, back to my nice quiet day of crafting.

Friendsmas Fizzy Soaking Salts

Friendsmas celebrations are such a wonderful way to spend an evening with girlfriends!  The plan for this year's party, besides snacks, is for each person to bring a $10 gift and we will swap.  It's nice to have a small something for everyone, though, so this is what I'm adding to the mix. Participating in craft challenges is just that.  A challenge!  I love how each one helps me think in different ways and pulls me out of any ruts I might be experiencing.  This one is all about sustainability.  For me that means:  Minimize purchases.  Upcycle wherever possible.  This time, I even grew something from seed!
