Bittersweet

Here we are at book #23 in the China Bayles mystery series.  I'm going to be sad when I finish!  

The storyline setting is at China's mother's ranch in South Texas at Thanksgiving.  Local game warden Mackenzie "Mack" Chambers has been transferred from Pecan Springs to this area and most of the book centers around her.  China is excited to visit with her mother, Leatha, as well as her old friend, Mack.  China's stepfather Sam has a heart attack and is hospitalized.  Mack is looking into a series of thefts at a trophy game ranch.  When Leatha's helper, Sue Ellen, is killed in a car accident and a local veterinarian is killed in a robbery, China and Mack have their hands full putting clues together, worried a crime ring may be in the area.

I've said this so many times about this author's works, but I

Have you ever been enjoying a nice, quiet day of crafting, then BAM your jar of ModPodge falls off the table, splatters across the floor, and onto one of your favorite toss blankets?  Well, that happened to me right in the middle of this project.  Talk about a big, sticky mess!  Not to worry, though.  We have hardwood floors.  First, a dish towel was used to mop up most of the glops.  I had the thought to use rug cleaner on the afghan and also sprayed foam across the glue swirls on my floor.  The toss blanket made a round in my washing machine and came out unscathed.  A quick wet mop restored my hardwood floors.  Now, back to my nice quiet day of crafting.

Friendsmas Fizzy Soaking Salts

Friendsmas celebrations are such a wonderful way to spend an evening with girlfriends!  The plan for this year's party, besides snacks, is for each person to bring a $10 gift and we will swap.  It's nice to have a small something for everyone, though, so this is what I'm adding to the mix. Participating in craft challenges is just that.  A challenge!  I love how each one helps me think in different ways and pulls me out of any ruts I might be experiencing.  This one is all about sustainability.  For me that means:  Minimize purchases.  Upcycle wherever possible.  This time, I even grew something from seed!
