In and Around Sedalia

Did you see my post about Warm Springs Ranch?  It is located in Boonville, Missouri between Kansas City and Columbia.

After visiting the Clydesdales, we went looking for late lunch in Boonville and found New Orleans House of Gumbo & Po' Boys.  I chose gumbo and my husband went with the catfish.  Both were delicious!  'Super sweet owner chatted with us for a while.

While we were in the area, we visited Bothwell Lodge State Park, but did not have time for the tour.

Our lodging was chosen in nearby Sedalia, who happened to have a fun outdoor concert in their downtown.  Fitters Pub was a great hangout for drinks and snacks before and after the live music.  Another restaurant we liked in Sedalia was Kehde's BBQ.

Obligatory selfie.

I think I was most impressed with their library.

Isn't it spectacular?!

I want to remember the last bit of our trip, so putting it here.  On our way home, we stopped in Warsaw, Missouri to eat.  'Not many restaurant options and our choice happened to be The Rusty Skillet in their historic downtown.  This place was packed!  There was a table for eight that already had a couple seated at one end.  We were asked to sit at the opposite end.  Being who we are, the other couple was greeted and we started reviewing the menu of pretty typical cafe fare.  People are leaving and more are coming.  Just after our order was placed, A group of ten arrived and were being bustled over to a table right next to our table buddies.  It was going to be a tight fit.  This sweet couple offered to move toward us to give the big group more room.  We invited them to come on down beside us.  It turns out her name is Norma. She is 90 years old and loves gardening.  Her flower beds are on a hillside, and she has given away many of her plants as mobility has become more difficult.  His name is (we think) Alton and he is 85 years old.  He is now retired but enjoyed being a welder for Honeywell for many years.  They kindly told us all about Warsaw and the waterways surrounding it.  I am not exaggerating when I say they were the SWEETEST couple.  We had such a nice conversation with them.  I wasn't really interested in souvenirs until we met them.  I paused at one of the downtown boutiques in Warsaw and purchased a couple of things in honor of our lovely chat with Norma and Alton.

Where have you been wandering?
