Queen Anne's Lace

by Susan Wittig Albert

Several books in the China Bayles mystery series mention the loft space of her commercial building being used only for storage.  Queen Anne's Lace begins with China and her business partner, Ruby, tackling the organization of the loft.  A really smart choice to open this part to the public, so they have a larger footprint for retail items and more options for classrooms.  Like most of us, much of what they find could have been tossed ages ago.  The very back shelf of a dark closet holds a dusty box whose contents may have belonged to the original owner of this 100-year-old stone building.

Two stories begin to unfold.  One is current events with China's friends and family.  The second is all about the young woman who lived in the stone structure first.  This author has woven both stories together using that dusty box found in the back of a dark closet.

I loved it!
