Let It Snow DIY Frame


This was a fun project made just for my little snowman collection!


Let it Snow DIY Frame Supply List

24 x 24" Unfinished Frame
Black Paint
Paint Brushes
DIY cutting machine
Yard Stick
Pencil
Cardstock
Painters' Tape




First the letters were cut with my DIY cutting machine to get an idea of proportion.  Cardstock works great for making a stencil as long as it is allowed to dry between each layer of paint.


A yard stick and pencil were used to lay out my border blocks.  After the lessons learned creating My First Barn Quilt lots of painters' tape was used.  That really helped me minimize mess.  It took four layers of black paint to get a nice solid look.


Here's where I landed after painting.


Out came my DIY cutting machine again for some white vinyl snowflakes.  I actually ran out of white vinyl and was torn about those solid black side panels.


My tall snowmen seemed to fit perfectly though!  Don't you love serendipitous cardinals at the top of snowman hats?

Have you ever been enjoying a nice, quiet day of crafting, then BAM your jar of ModPodge falls off the table, splatters across the floor, and onto one of your favorite toss blankets?  Well, that happened to me right in the middle of this project.  Talk about a big, sticky mess!  Not to worry, though.  We have hardwood floors.  First, a dish towel was used to mop up most of the glops.  I had the thought to use rug cleaner on the afghan and also sprayed foam across the glue swirls on my floor.  The toss blanket made a round in my washing machine and came out unscathed.  A quick wet mop restored my hardwood floors.  Now, back to my nice quiet day of crafting.

Cultivating Autumn Arrangements

This project has already failed twice.  TWICE!   Originally, I wanted to create a sustainable gazing ball that could be used for many seasons.  A beautiful glass gazing ball has been purchased for my garden every year and every year something happens to break it.  There has to be a better way!
