Hummingbird Barn Quilt
My newest craft addiction was explained in my Sunflower Barn Quilt post. These are so much fun!
This lovely hummingbird pattern was found ages ago, but I don't remember where. If it is your design, please let me know and I will happily add your link for credit!
After taping off the frame and one inch inside it, a base coat of light blue was painted across the entire 24 x 24 unfinished craft wood. For me the most intimidating part is measuring and drawing the pattern lines. After giving myself a pep talk and taking a deep breath, a pencil, yard stick and regular ruler are my tools of choice.
Acrylic paints are added beginning in the middle. Some colors take more layers than others. My husband's maternal grandmother was an Apache Indian. She told everyone a quilt pattern must be broken to release the evil spirits. In her honor, that's a family tradition I like to keep. I almost forgot to break the pattern on this one.
Even though we are in the middle of another snowstorm, this little corner is ready for Spring!
Now that it's February, how are you feeling about Winter?
