Faubus House Tour

This wonderful day was way back in August.  One of my classmates suggested we participate in a floral arrangement class at the Faubus House in Huntsville, Arkansas.  We had a blast!  In high school, we referred to it as Governor's Mansion.

For anyone not familiar with Arkansas history, Orval Faubus was governor from 1955 to 1967.  This home is perched atop a bluff with a beautiful view.  Construction was completed in 1967.  Here's their website:  Faubus House Tours

The weather that morning was perfect.

Class began with a tour of the grounds.

We were allowed to cut greenery around the garden, but flowers were provided by the instructor.

Our snips went into water with conditioner to rest while we toured half of the Faubus Home.  Designed by E. Fay Jones, it incorporates blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor.  We were challenged to allow his design to inspire our arrangement.

For me, that meant a muted pallet and wood elements.

I learned so much from our instructor and was thrilled to create a chicken wire frog for the first time.

We grabbed lunch in Huntsville for more conversation and laughter.

Lifelong friends.
